I don't think the new Firefox 57 is a step forward, the design is UGLY and memory usage is still bad.

Most of all, I don't like the new visual design of FireFox 57, it's very hard to view white text on black background, and sharp edges on the tab's gives an idea of the 90-ties..., the design sucks big time.

And if I look on the memory usage of the Firefox browser, it is running 7 processes with a total memory usage of 1.2 GB for 3 tabs..., that's 400 MB for each tab.
