Firefox installation does not include profile manager or profile files
Hi all,
Ever since I've updated to macOS High Sierra I've been having trouble with several different programs. Now, Firefox refuses to run anymore, giving me a "Profile Missing" error. I've tried just about everything- restarting the system, deleting every firefox file in my computer and reinstalling fresh, attempting to use Terminal to create a new profile, etcetera. However, when I install it, Firefox not only seems to not create a new profiles.ini or Profile folder, but is incapable of generating any new profile at all. I have no idea what to do at this point, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi. Try these : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Hi Pkshadow, when I attempt to follow the first link's instructions I couldn't find a Firefox folder in the Application Support folder... is there a way to generate one somehow?
I think that for some reason, even though I did a completely clean wipe and reinstallation of Firefox, that it's not doing a full installation. Not only is that folder unavailable, but it looks like the Profile manager was also omitted from being installed. What could cause an error like this?
Did you check the permissions/owner of the involved folders?
There can be a problem with permissions/ownership of involved folders/files preventing access.
- Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
- Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/
If this still didn't work then try to rename/delete the /Firefox/ folder in both above mentioned locations (main, cache).
Hi cor-el, Like I said earlier, I don't seem to have Firefox folders in any of those locations. I checked the whole mac's Library folder as well as my own User folder, and there weren't any Firefox folders anywhere except for in my ~/Users/<username>/Application Support folder...
Keep in mind that ~/Libraries is a hidden folder.
In Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the ~/Library folder in the Home directory is a hidden folder.
Yes, I know, I have all hidden files visible as well...
