Every time I mispell a URL it forwards it to some search engine. I don't want this! What if I accidentally copy-pasted something personal that I didn't intend and it gets forwarded to yahoo? On the Search options I am given the option to remove all except one of them. There has to be at least one or the Remove button is greyed out. I want ALL of them gone. I don't want mispelled URLs to be redirected to a search engine.

In the current Firefox releases the default search engines are built-in and stored in special omni.ja (ZIP) archives. You can disable search engines and hide them, but you need at least one search engine to be enabled.

You can set keyword.enabled to false on the about:config page to prevent searching.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
