I do not use tabs. I want a single tab to be shown on my screen.

Each time I set this when an update comes along I must go searching the web for a solution to reinstate a single tab.

I often read that the single tab option is not straight forward to do.

All I want is to use a single tab.

How cany I set this please?

What were you using or how did you accomplish that before Firefox 38 was released?

And don't think that I am playing dumb. I have been using Firefox since before it was even named Firefox - like almost 13 years now. Unlike other browsers, Firefox has always been a 'tab browser'. Although until like 3 years ago it was possible to have one tab open with the "tab" remaining hidden, and there was an extension or two that prevent the user from opening a 2nd tab by forcing a new windows to open instead. Then with Firefox 4.0 [~3 years ago] it became a bit harder with the change to "tabs on top". And as of a year ago with Firefox 29 and Australis that became impossible, or so I thought - which is why I am asking you how you managed to do it until prior to Firefox 38.

Unfortunately I dont remember how it was done. A web search gave the solution. Searched again and connot now find a solution.

I guess I need to find a more flexible browser.

Shame that..........

I note that within a few hours there were experts, a top10 and a mod, on it. Nothing for a few days so I guess there isnt a solution to this?

Such a shame as, back in the day, Firefox was the perfect alternative to IE. It now seems to have gone the same way as the Great Satan.

Time to look elsewhere.

Hi Stuwoolf, is it possible that you used the Refresh feature during your update? This could happen if Firefox reported that it was starting slowly and offered the option to restore some default settings to improve performance. If you click that button, your entire settings folder gets moved to the desktop and placed in an Old Firefox Data folder. During that process, extensions you may have installed to modify the Firefox UI and any userChrome.css file you might have created, would be removed.

Do you have an Old Firefox Data folder with a recently updated semi-randomly-named folder inside? If so, we may be able to help you recover whatever hack you were using before from there.
