Hi, I have had Thunderbird on my Windows 10 laptop successfully for many years. Today I added a new email account, but then Thunderbird kept losing connection. I thought I'd try uninstalling and re-installing it, but now I get the message that it can't be installed on my laptop. Anyone know how I can get round this?

MacOS Sonoma 14.4 seems to have broken a number of apps. AFter updating to Sonoma 14.4 I experienced a great number of crashes with Thunderbird, so I completely uninstalled Thunderbird and removed all traces of plists, Application preferences, everything, reinstalled Thunderbird, and added back the two email accounts I use with it.

It now takes up to 30 seconds to start up Thunderbird, after which it happily no longer crashes, but obviously the startup time is unacceptable. I experience the same problem with Typora, and the developers there informed me that they believe the problem is with a Sonoma change that broke WebKit. I don't know if Thunderbird still uses Gecko or if the new version is WebKit. Please let me know if other Sonoma users have reported this problem or if it's just my system.

Thunderbird 115 included in 24.04 LTS installation.

My profiles are located on the SD card working well on other two laptops running ubuntu 22.04. Swap SD cards between two laptops is my way of working with Thunderbird since 13.04.

After installation 24.04 LTS (and Thunderbird 115 included). Following the instruction for adding old profile to the new Thunderbird. Help->thunderbird information->about:profiles. Creating new profile. 1) Using the function CHOOSE FOLDER indicated the path to the profile /media/VB/AB49-E208/Thunderbird profile 2) The path to the folder shown by Thunderbird is different (and strange): /run/user/1000/doc/58235/Thunderbird

When looking into the directory tree the folder is empty (obviously). Thunderbird therefore cannot reach the profile located on SD card and doesn't work.

QUESTION: Is there any way to overwrite the profile folder path in Thunderbird 115 ?

My Thunderbird has been working properly for about 30 years, but now refuses to open. Message received says 'Authentication failed'. This happens repeatedly (for at least 20-30 times) and appears to relate to my password. It suggests 'Retry' or 'Enter new password'. The 'Retry' repeats as before so I check the Saved Passwords and enter the one saved. I get the same message. I am using Version 115 and have been for some time.

Could this be related to a change of Profile? There must be a way to reset the password? I have checked all the settings and no errors appear, all settings confirmed.

I have thought about a Recovery Mode and seem to remember seeing a message that I do have that. I just don't know how to access it.

I sent an email with multiple BCCs and no CCs or TOs, I put myself as one of the BCCs.

I did not receive it and I do not think anybody else did as well since I asked a few people.

The email is in the sent folder. I tried forwarding the email from my sent folder to myself as CC, and that worked. I also tried fowarding as BCC, and that worked.

So what is going on? Is BCC working? How can I know for certain? Do I need to foward the email as BCCs to all my BCCs to get this to work?

Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

What can I do?

I have been using Thunderbird for years to access several @charter.net email addresses, lately administrated at Spectrum, which took over Charter. Everything was working normally until today. I can still receive emails, but when I send, I get an error message asking for a password: "password required for outgoing SMPT server" Manually entering a password in that error message box doesn't help. Spectrum support is not helpful beyond confirming that my email sends and receives normally as long as I access it on their website. Three clues: 1) Spectrum recently announced "new and improved" email. 2) One customer service person described my email addresses as "legacy". 3) My gmail address sends and receives just fine from Thunderbird as usual. Hello, It's there any option/setting in mozilla thunderbird for drag and drop emails to local drive folder and save them under another filename that the standard "Subject" name? I don't know if i'm clearly enough, that's why i want to make a briefly description of the operation i want and the way the emails i want to appear in my folder. I drag and drop an email to my folder and this email has the filename represented by the "Subject" of that email. Can i change the way emails are saved ? Or can i drag and drop emails from one sender in separate folder ?

When trying to sign messages with thunderbir on debian mails won't deliver.

If they are not signed, it will send smoothly even if they are encrypted.

I can't open my Excel attachments in ThunderBird.

Is there a setting I need to open. The one I use by default only gives me word, wordpad options. or choose my own, which is still word and wordpad.

I'm using ThunderBird 115.7.0 and Windows 10.

Certain email newsletters that I signed up for (and verified) go directly to trash. I have no Thunderbird filters on nor does my internet or computer. How can I fix this? I switched from Outlook but sadly, will have to go back if this isn't fixed.

I had emptied my spam and junk folders but unfortunately I had marked up one email address as such which I need to undue, but I can't find where the list is. Where do I find it please?

There is now a new line of all my emails just below the T/bird menu. I hate it! How can I revert to seeing all emails separately in the main email body and losing that line?
