How can I edit a message I have received, in order to make it more useful in my archive?

As an example, I might order a flashlight from a vendor. I would have received an order confirmation by email, and then might get another message when it is delivered. But depending on the vendor's practices, these messages might not say "flashlight." A year later, suppose I want to know where I ordered the flashlight. If the messages refer to an order number but do not say "flashlight", I don't have a simple way to find this out. What I would like to do, when I archive the message (or subsequently), is to edit the body (or subject) to include this keyword. Is there any straightforward way to do this in Thunderbird? Thanks for any advice.

The HTML display for incoming email seems to have broken between 10/21/2022 18:23 (which I believe to be the time of the 102.4.0 upgrade) and approximately 10/22/2022 (today) about 16:30. Is there any way to restore these as HTML display?

Thunderbird auto updating to 102 even after putting all hacks in to NOT update

Have used Thunderbird for years, decades even, on multiple PC's, family and friends, and home PC's. Even donated a few times over those years but this one has me stumped and honestly a bit miffed.

I got 102 update and it completely broke my 2 POP and 1 IMAP accounts. New Passwords, cleared files, all the business you find here and online. Saw someone revert back to v91 which I had prior. Did that, worked like a charm and the prior existing accounts that did NOT work; started working again instantly. Proves I had the right accounts/passwords.

Next day, launch TB and it's updated again to 102; hmm. Downgrade again a second time on 2 PC's and go my business. It's now been 4 days and I've put registry keys in, used Config Editor and did all the "do not auto update" things I've read and still, today after a long and wicked day; I find starting TB it's yet again auto updated to 102.

Help please? I'm an IT guy of over 30 years and this one has me stumped and doing side-eye and I don't like it. Is there an honest and true way to NOT UPDATE to 102? Sorry, upset and have never had an issue *ever* with TB these years but this one is quite annoying downgrading daily.

Address Book Number of Entries in mailing list

In WLM, the Contacts page shows the number of contacts in each group, which I have found very useful. Is there any way to find this information in TB.

Version 102.2.2 goes "unresponsive" when I click get messages for several minutes, eventually will download one or two emails, but they are ones I have already deleted, and occur multiple times. Can I go back to version 91? Where can I get the install file? Since the problem started with the update its a problem with it, not antivirus software. There are no other programs using significant cpu time while t'bird is unresponsive. This is critical, I will have to find another email program if you don't fix this soon.

Hopefully nearing the end of a long saga. Used Comcast email and T'bird for many years. In November I wanted to add a new address to Comcast and that's when my troubles began - it was like quicksand: passwords, and more passwords etc. it became worse and worse and ... worse! I gave up on Comcast and opened Yahoo and iCloud email addresses and engaged Apple Mail. I've used Macs since about 1985 and used individual apps for browsing, mail, office suite etc. I'm used to having an "Address Book" as part of a mail program; Apple Mail has no address book their Mail reads "Contacts" for an address - very nice if one is using an iPhone but not so on my desktop Mac - so I return to Thunderbird which I'm used to. We oldies single task - it's like driving 25 MPH.

Today Matt helped with the correct authentication method to get my T'bird logged on to Yahoo, now to the rest of it:

I need to unfreeze T'bird's opening page which shows a Nov. 18 email as the newest message - I can't click the page away, only scroll to older messages. I sent myself a message today but it doesn't appear as a received message. Could the Mailbox be at capacity? I'm running T'bird v115.6.0 on Mac OS 13.6.3 and it was OK until I poked the hornets' nest.

Any thoughts are appreciated

One of my 3 emails is not downloading after not being on computer for 2 months.Other 2 work fine. On settings for that account the syn in the menu is not showing? Shows on the other two. On start up it downloaded messages but they don't show? Several had some malware that my antimalware took care of. Messaged downlload just fine on my phone for that account.

When TB tries to retrieve items to update a feed, and Internet connection isn't available, it simply disable the feed and stops updating that feed forever. the only way to check whether one or more feeds have been disabled is to look one by one as often as possible in order not to loose many news. Any easier solution please?

Just build a new PC and moved my Thunderbird and Firefox settings to the new PC. I've done this a few times over the years and it usually works perfectly. However, this time after moving Thunderbird and starting downloading new mail, it is REALLY slow, taking 8-9 seconds to download each message.

I have always used the following locations to keep all the profile data: C:\mozilla.org\Users\Johnny\Thunderbird.slt C:\mozilla.org\Users\Johnny\Firefox.slt

When moving to a new machine, I install a fresh Thunderbird and Firefox, then copy over the entire folder C:\mozilla.org\Users\Johnny to the new machine. I then go and modify C:\Users\Johnny\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\profiles.ini and add a new profile block like this: [Profile2] Name=Johnny IsRelative=0 Path=C:\mozilla.org\Users\Johnny\Thunderbird.slt Default=1 When I brought up Thunderbird, everything looked normal. When I clicked on Get Messages, it first started downloading from my Comcast account, which normally does 2-3 messages per second. It was now taking 8-9 seconds per message. The next account it downloads from is Network Solutions and it is taking just as long for this account.

I've looked around in the TB settings and can't figure out what is happening. I haven't seen this issue with past migrations. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

My hard drive had to be replaced and now I cannot recover my Thunderbird Email. Keeps asking for a password but won't accept it. Asks for password for "mobile.charter.net" I think I have totally screwed up all the settings in trying to find a solution. I checked with my internet provider but no help. IONOS on 29/01/2024 require emails sent via SMTP to be from the domain of the email. eg 111.com, 222.com & 333.com I have three domains with ionos so I need to be able to logon using three different users. eg fred@111.com, bert@222.com & jim@333.com all to SMTP.ionos.co.uk BUT Thunderbird appears to only allow ONE USER for each SMTP server. Attempting to change user changes ALL instances of logon to smtp.ionos.com. "Action Required: Update Your Email Settings By 28.01.2024

102.2.2 has really messed things up for me. i can't see any emails after August 9th in any of my Saved Searches, and this is causing real problems.

i've tried deleting the global database and reindexing, but that did nothing.

I can not get my emails anymore in the last two weeks. Get a message "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, user name or password"

User name and password have not changed. I use IMAP for incoming and outgoing mail. Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.

Did think of uninstalling Thunderbird and then re-installing it, but unsure if that will help. thanks Vic

I have Mozilla Thunderbird email Client on my HP W10 Computer and just have so many that I want to Save on to an External Hard Drive/Back Up on to Google Drive and so on.

I do not know how to do this Process and I tried my Local Service Provider/Verizon Tech Support and they cannot help as thy said they are not Familiar with this Product.

Is there anyone even for a Fee/Paid Support that can be of help to me on this?
