Hello,

I seem to be having some difficulties connecting to my mail server using the preloaded email app included in the FFOS. Firstly here are my specs:

Device/OS: ZTE Open FFOS/B2G 1.3.0.0 pre-release

Server: Apache with ssl cert iRedMail software

What I am doing: I go to the email app, tap on Manual Setup. fill in all the details and I click next. Then I get the error.

The error I get is as follows: Unable to establish a secure connection with "shwaymail.com". There may be a problem with your network or the server.

Now every other device I have used (android phones, iPad, thunderbird mail client, webmail client, etc) has had no issue connecting and retrieving/sending mail. I would provide screenshots, but I am unsure how to upload them at this sage..

I have looked over the server and saw the following errors int he logs: May 8 19:37:45 ideatreesolutions postfix/smtpd[4316]: connect from unknown[172.56.22.253] May 8 19:37:45 ideatreesolutions postfix/smtpd[4316]: warning: connect to Milter service inet:localhost:12345: Connection refused May 8 19:37:49 ideatreesolutions postfix/smtpd[4316]: warning: TLS library problem: 4316:error:14094418:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:tlsv1 alert unknown ca:s3_pkt.c:1260:SSL alert number 48: May 8 19:37:49 ideatreesolutions postfix/smtpd[4316]: lost connection after STARTTLS from unknown[172.56.22.253] May 8 19:37:49 ideatreesolutions postfix/smtpd[4316]: disconnect from unknown[172.56.22.253]

All the information/credentials should be correct in the setup. I am scratching my head here and can't figure out why something that works everywhere else won't work here.

I can post everything in the Manual Setup if need be. Let me know.

Thank you in advance. Please, any help is appreciated.

Hi,

Thanks for this question, apologies for the delay to reply. Here is a previous thread on this same issue related to v1.1, maybe some of the port information helps, otherwise refer to the bugs linked there for more details. If you still cannot get it working, let's get another bug on file for v1.3 and we'll notify our contacts to investigate with ZTE about it.

Thanks for the reply. I will look that thread over and see what can be done.

However, I do have a question. Since I'm running a pre-release, and I don't think ZTE plans on releasing 1.3 for my specific model of ZTE Open (since I read they plan on releasing 1.3 with the ZTE Open C), would there be any expectation that a fix would trickle down to me?

Also, being a pre-release, does it have any capabilities of updating (to perhaps nightlies?)

Thanks again for the reply :)

Hi,

Sorry, amybe I misunderstood. I think you do have v1.3 if you are using the latest device (the black 4" ZTE Open from Ebay)? It says 'pre-release' but it is actually the production v1.3. Unless you somehow have an Orange 3.5" running v1.3?

Thanks, Michelle

I have the Orange ZTE Open that came with 1.01 from Ebay. I upgraded the OS to the Boot2Gecko 1.3.0.0 pre-release

Hi ccastigi,

It's possible that the specific build you installed on your device has a bug that is causing the error. Where did you download the image from?

If you are tech-savvy, you may try building your own image with the latest stable source code. For more information on how to build your own Firefox OS image, please see the following MDN article:

As for your question about updates to your ZTE Open device, the manufacturers are the ones responsible for releasing the official updates.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!!
