My android device keeps tying FF updates with chrome, which I refuse to use. Please provide an easily found update option here?

hello BFBa, the aurora version of firefox on android would contain an automatic updater, though it also receives updates on a daily basis: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
or you could download the updated apk files for the firefox release directly from mozilla's ftp servers or try with an alternative maketplace like f-droid: https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=org.mozilla.firefox
