I just updated to 25.0 and I noticed the History drop down menu has been simplified and Back, Forward and Home are now gone. Can these be restored?

I am running on a Mac (Lion) with FF 25.0. I typically hide the toolbar because I like to max out my screen space without having to go into full screen mode. So I typically use a custom keyboard command to navigate forward and back during my browser session, but occasionally the keyboard command fails and the page is unresponsive. In the past all I had to do was go up to the History drop down menu and choose "Back" or "Forward". I would also use the "Home" selection to get back to my homepage. But ever since I updated to 25.0 those selection are now gone from the History menu.

Is there any way to restore them? And are they gone for all users (was this a global change) or are one of my add-ons simply not playing nice and causing this problem? TIA!

According to the following article, the keyboard shortcut for Home on MacOS X is option+home.

Note: if the article displays Windows keyboard shortcuts, check the Editing Tools section in the left column to select the correct OS.

Note that keyboard shortcuts do not work in case a plugin has focus and in such a case you need to click elsewhere to make the keyboard work again.

cor-el, good to know, thank you. ComputerWhiz- Sorry for the delayed response, but here is a screenshot that shows you what my history menu currently looks like since upgrading to 25.0, as well as a list of my active and inactive add-ons and extensions for your reference. Again this was NOT an issue until I upgraded to 25.0. In 24.0 and previous versions (with the SAME ads-ons and extensions) I had a full history menu that included choices for BACK, FORWARD, HOME, etc. And as I stated above, I wasn't sure if the elimination of these choices was isolated to an issue for me only or if this was a global change by Mozilla for 25.0. Do you still have these options on your menu?

On WinXP Back, Forward, and Home was last in the Firefox 3.6 versions and disappeared as of Firefox 4.0 - and hasn't been seen since.

Doesn't the Mac OSX versions of Firefox have Back and Forward in the context menu (right-click), as Windows and Linux versions do?

edmeister- Yes it does and that is most certainly a good option for me, so thank you. Still doesn't resolve my issue (if it even is an issue vs. a global change) but it's a nice alternative and I kind of forgot it was even an option until you posted.  ;)

The one thing the context menu does NOT offer is an option for "home".

No, it doesn't have Home menu item, but there should be a Home button on the Navigation Bar that can be moved to the Tab Bar.

Sorry, I don't have access to a Mac OSX computer to figure out when those menu items were removed from the Mac version of Firefox; whether it was with Firefox 4.0 as with Linux and Windows or more recently.

On Windows and Linux those items in the History menu were hidden (and others still are) via class="show-only-for-keyboard" to only make them appear when the keyboard was used (i.e. Alt+S for the History menu) and were hidden when the mouse was used.
Those items are now removed permanently.
