Hello karollt, probably the sites is in History, if you click Ctrl+Shift+H and the Library window open in History, can you see your sites in there ?

see : Viewing the browsing history - Firefox

thank you

Hi ideato,

I see in history tons of pages that I have viewed, but can I recreate my session windows with all tabs and tabs groups I had before from the history?

You can consider doing a system restore because sessionstore.js is a JS file that windows might restore to a previous version that has those tabs.

Note that using System Restore can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted because not all files are restored (only files in a white-list), so be cautious with using System Restore.

  • You may lose data in the profile folder like .js and .ini files.
  • You may need to (re)install software that was affected.

In case you need to reinstall Firefox then you need to delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling to make sure that all files get replaced.

You can find the latest Firefox 20.0.x release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

I tried to type about:sessionrestore and get this message:

Well, this is embarrassing.

Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.

What next?

Sorry, but you can't restore the tabs or windows any more, if you see the message you said. If it is not so important(and you have the time) open it for History again, otherwise you must see cor-el reply .

So it means that I have no chance to restore? It is highly important?

So the only chance is to go throe the history and check all the web I have visited during last half a year? ...

Is it possible to make some back up for my firefox? it is very paint full to lose so much data like that...

It's a good idea to back up your Firefox personal settings folder (AKA profile folder) just as you back up other important data on your computer. This article has some suggestions: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.

After making a backup, you could review cor-el's suggestion earlier in this thread about trying the Windows "system restore" process. Personally I never had success with system restore on Windows XP, but you might have better luck.

Going forward, you might consider the add-on Session Manager. I think it might be more robust than Firefox's built-in session management feature because you can roll back to the earlier session of your choice.
