I didn't quite remember my pass name, and so I had it changed, but the old ones keeps coming up. I was able to get rid of the old password that kept coming up also by going into preferences and getting it deleted, but there's no place to do that for pass names.

Thank you! finally, it worked, and yes it's quite simple once I knew where to go. I'm going to book mark that site in in case I need it again or need to help someone else.

Hey llerner,

Go to Tools >Options >Security tab click on Saved passwords. This will give you a list of sites that you have saved a password for. Just find your site and delete that entry.

There is a lot of useful information in this article about the Firefox Password Manager. It should answer any other questions you might have.

You can also remove the cookies from that site to make the site forget you if you've created a remember me cookie by going to Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Hopefully this helps!

If you want to remove saved form data from a drop down list then use these steps:

  1. Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
  2. Highlight an entry in the drop down list
  3. Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

Hi,

I got rid of the pasword, it's the pass name I can't get rid of. You said, Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list

  1. Highlight an entry in the drop down list
  2. Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

but I can't find the empty input field--unless you mean where the pass name is-- but as soon as I click on that the old pass name shows up. there's no drop down list. by going into preferences I was able to get rid of the pass word, but there's nothing for pass name.

I still can't get rid of the pass name; it was easy to get rid of the pass word. When I go to the site, as soon as i start typing the old pass name comes up. and I can't delete it. Very frustrating.

The NAME (as opposed to the password) is probably saved in Firefox's "form history". Here are instructions provided on Mozilla's support site (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Form%20autocomplete#w_deleting-individual-form-entries) for removing a specific word or phrase that has been remembered on a form:

If you want to remove one of your previous form entries from Firefox's history:

  • Click on the form field and press the down arrow key to display all the saved entries. You may type the first few letters of the entry to limit the number of entries displayed.
  • Use the down arrow key or the mouse pointer to highlight the entry you wish to delete.
  • Press Delete. The entry will be removed.

You may repeat the process for any number of entries for a particular form field.

It's so simple I keep forgetting it myself! The page I provided a link to above has other useful info about form histories and how they are managed.

On Mac you need to use Shift+Delete to remove entries in the drop down list.
