I can't find how to disable the "saved downloaded picture" notification.

I saved downloaded photos from Google and other sources. The little audio signature that accompanies the"save picture as" is driving me nuts. Is this a feature of Firefox and if so, how can I disable it? Thanks very much. (Windows 7 sound scheme does not list this sound.)

Open about:config and search for the entry downbar.function.soundOnComplete . Change the value from 1 to 0 and then restart FF. That should take care of it for you.

^ That is not a standard preference in Firefox, it was probably added by a download extension.

Firefox comes with one sound, for the Find Bar.

Thanks for the replies. Actually, I wasn't using my head. My keyboard has a nice little "Mute" button that works very well, I had just forgotten about it. Now, whenever I download pictures, I just mute the sound and restore it when I'm done.
