Why does FF keep saying it isn't responding and is so slow. I even have a hard time loading it

I have such a hard time loading FF & when I do get it loaded it is slow & will freeze & say not responding or there is a script running. When I am playing games on Pogo or Face Book it it so slow. I need some simple instructions to fix this problem. I am ready to pull my hair out.
