when i drag the 5.0.1 upgrade to the apps folder it asks if i want to replace the old version with the one i am moving and i click yes, continue, and then it says cannot complete b/c i do not have sufficient priviledges for some of the items. then i am returned to the window where you drag the upgrade to the apps folder. i went into the firefox "get info" window and made sure that as the admin i had read and write priviledges and i gave everyone read and write priviledges too. but still the same. cannot get an upgrade.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded
