Where is the download status (# of active downloads and minutes remaining) in Firefox 4?
I can't find the download status in Firefox 4. Is there a chrome setting that brings this back? I read that it is supposed to be in release 4 but didn't make it due to time constraints. Will it be in a future release?

Im not sure you opened menu bar or not so;
without menu bar: click orange firefox then select options then again. choose general and select "show download window when downloading"
with menu bar: click tools from menu bar select options select general and select "show download window when downloading"

The download window only shows the estimated times for each individual file, not the total time. This total estimated time should be available in the main window like it was in previous verions of Firefox.
I am looking for the download status too. Your reply is not a solution to the described problem. People want a download status indicator. They don't want an extra window to be opened (download manager). In FF3.6 there was a download status indicator field on the status bar. Now with the status bar removed in FF4.0, the download status indicator also disappeared.
Please, do NOT suggest add-ons. The add-on 'status-4-ever' brings back the status bar, yes. But I don't want a status bar anymore. I want a status indicator field somewhere else, e.g. at the very top, next to the menu bar.
So where is it?
You can install the Status-4-Evar extension to regain some functionality from previous Firefox versions that was lost with the removal of the Status bar.
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" after you have installed the Status-4-Evar extension and drag the items (Status Text, Progress Meter, Download Status) upon the Add-ons Bar (View > Toolbars > [X] Add-on Bar)
