How to launch firefox with the conncetion
when ever i try to launch firefox it tells me that Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at support.mozilla.com.

Not an answer, but I am curious to know what is firefox 4.42 ? and where did you download it from ?
I am using Firefox 3.6.13 and Firefox 4.0Beta8 on an XP computer myself.
- one of the official firefox download sites is http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- and the beta site is http://www.mozilla.com/en-GB/firefox/all-beta.html
Obviously you have connected with support . mozilla .com at the moment, but maybe you are using an alternative machine.
Is your problem only with secure sites if so have a look at
