Can't create initial login; NEXT button remains grey

I have done step 1 and opened the signup boxusing the "Set Up Sync" menu item under Tools. I have selected New Account, filled out the required form using no special or upper case characters, added my correct gmail address, and checked the I agree box. The NEXT button remains gray. (Only the BACK and the CANCEL SETUP are active)

I reinstalled the Sync program and got to the same point again. Running FF 3.6.6 on Win. 7
