Why can I no longer lock my toolbars? Your earlier answer is insufficient.

As has been noted, the ability to lock toolbars is now gone. What's up with that? I'd like to move a small toolbar onto line with another small toolbar and lock it all to save vertical space. Used to be able to, can't anymore. Why?

If you had another thread going where you asked about this previously and received some answers, why did you start this thread?

There is no "lock" for the Toolbars, per se. They are normally locked until the you open the toolbar Customize mode. https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

I was not a participant in the earlier discussion, which was closed, by the administrator I presume, with their added comment that one should open a new thread if the answer was not sufficient.

The question is still not resolved, by the way.

What I want to do is combine multiple toolbars on the same line to save vertical space, and then lock the toolbars so they don't accidentally get repositioned.

In Firefox you don't move an entire toolbar all at once, you move the individual elements of a toolbar one at a time. That said, some toolbars can't be moved, not all toolbar developers take the time to write the code needed for that feature; you can try to move other elements onto one of those toolbars instead - sometimes that works.

I have 3 short toolbars sitting under each other taking up valuable vertical space. Would like to have these all coexist beside each other one a single horizonal line.

Gareth,

Have you tried moving items on those 3 addon toolbars, as outlined in this KB article? https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar It doesn't specifically address addon toolbars, but the method of rearranging addon toolbar elements works pretty much the same.

The ability to merge an addon toolbar with other toolbars has to be built into each addon toolbar, and from what I see, very few toolbar developers take the time to include the code for the user to be able to do that. You'll have to experiment and see if it works for those particular toolbars.

If you give us the names of those 3 toolbars, maybe another user can offer suggestions or their experiences with those particular toolbars, and what is possible.
