In Thunderbird Calendar, How can I get alerts about birthdays, anniversaries showing which birthday/anniversary?

It appears I can create events that will send alerts or create "birthdays" (anniversaries) which will show which birthday it is but not an alert that will tell me which birthday is coming up as I was able to do with ReminderFox for many years.

Is there a way to both get an alert/reminder AND indicate which birthday/anniversary is coming?
