whenever FF opens/saves a particular file type, i set the 'Do this from now on' button for that file type or when i download a link that passes to a handler application, i click the 'always do this' button on the little toast dropdown. i do this because, shocker, i ALWAYS WANT FIREFOX TO DO THAT. but when i close the session, either manually or via reboot, when i launch back into FF, it asks me all over again for the same things. now this crap has been a problem since time immemorial (since FF 26, IIRC) and it's '''''always''''' broken. when the hell is this going to be fixed, now that we have ONE MORE dialog that stupidly asks us to set a pref it has no intention of keeping? somebody is gong to say 'make a new profile' or 'refresh FF', but none of that has ever worked and it doesn't work now because i've literally just setup six brand new machines and ALL OF THEM have this behaviour, ranging from Firefox, Firefox Nightly, Firefox Focus, right to Firefox Developer Edition. all of them fresh, right out of the box. if anyone knows how to make this bloody behaviour stick, please let me know, otherwise the dev team needs to just remove the ask... or fix it and make the blasted thing do its job. >:(
