Why is my recently updated Firefox for Mac rejecting almost every site (almost all of them known to me) as "not secure"?
I'm using Chrome to research this problem because my Firefox browser (for Mac), just updated, is suddenly telling me that every site I try to connect with is "not secure." I already know most of these sites and there is nothing wrong with them.
Sometimes Firefox allows me to override the warning and connect, sometimes not. The security settings don't contain anything that enlightens me or allows me to correct this problem.
Does anybody know a solution to this? I switched from Chrome to Firefox because my copy of Chrome got infected with something called "weknow," which mimics Google and which I haven't found any way to purge. So if anybody has an answer to that, please let me know.

There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connection certificates and send their own.

You can check if there is more detail available about the issuer of the certificate.
- click the "Advanced" button show more details
- click the blue error text (SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER) to show the certificate chain
- click "Copy text to clipboard" and paste the base64 certificate chain text in a reply
If clicking the blue error text doesn't provide the certificate chain then try these steps to inspect the certificate.
- open the Servers tab in the Certificate Manager
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Certificates: View Certificates -> Servers: "Add Exception"
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
- paste the URL of the website (https://xxx.xxx) in it's Location field
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate -> "Get Certificate"
- click the "View" button and inspect the certificate
You can find detail like the issuer of the certificate and intermediate certificates in the Details tab.
