Hi
This does not sound like an issue with Firefox for Android, but I will do my best to help.
You location on a mobile device will depend on the functions that you are using such as data or GPS. A data position will depend on the cell towers and the data service that you are using. I recommend using a GPS position as that is likely to be much more accurate.
Your device manufactures website will help you to enable this function.
Yes it is specific to firefox. All other apps have correct location ie maps, chrome, lyft.
Thanks
Working fine for me using Google Maps. What site are you using to request your location and have you allowed the site access to your location data?
To expand on that last point:
Websites usually use your IP address to get your approximate location. If they want your precise location (GPS or cell towers), they need to trigger Firefox to ask you for permission. Are you getting that prompt?
Thanks Yes sometimes re sites Its firefox that cannot get location accurate. When I search in google it has me far away. If I search restaurants near me it comes up with out of state results. Google searches in chrome are accurate and results are local to me.
It sounds like Google does not have permission to view your location. There are several types of location lookup and some of them are inaccurate.
Companies maintain a list of ip address and the area that they are associated with. This works for stable connections like a home or business. It fails when on mobile networks where ip addresses are shuffled between users frequently.
For example when at home the Google Maps website associates my ip address with the town I live in. Even if I am not logged into my Google account. When on my mobile phone network Google Maps website often thinks I am in a town 400 miles (620 km) away.
If I grant Google Maps website access to my location by clicking on the request location button on the bottom right Google Maps finds my exact location Firefox just fine.
Yes it has permission.
