Why not using OpenGL directly for WebGL

It seems to me that Firefox does not use OpenGL directly/properly for WebGL calls.

Why is this bug a thing? https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1385431 Why does the browser complain about things that no other apps do like(eg: "warning: extension `GL_ARB_gpu_shader5' unsupported").

It makes no sense to me. I'm sure that ANGLE isn't the problem here because there's no difference on Linux. If this is caused by some kind of safety feature(which is ironic because it's not stable at all), is there any option I can change to make Firefox behave like other browsers do?

Please consider turning on send info to Mozilla from within Firefox before posting as this will let us look at your Video Card Drivers and see what is going on. Usually Web Gl is disabled by the card as it is a opt in feature.

Since no information on your card or setup I can not say what is going on. Though I am sure your Linux forum has in fo on how to turn on Open GL please look there.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
