Origian.com.au login immediately returns a time out error when I try to log in on both Windows and Linux. Log in works with all other browsers.

I get "We can’t connect to the server at origian.com.au" when I try that address.

If you haven't already, could you try "the usual":

If a site is generally known to work in Firefox, these are general suggestions to try when it stops working correctly:

Cache and Cookies: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes. If you do not see the number going down on the page, you can reload it using Ctrl+r to check progress.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In the dialog that opens, the current site should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Testing in Firefox's Safe Mode: In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

Can connect to the server Can't login to the account. Can in safe mode but that isn't a lot of value. Applies to other online accounts I have also.

This isn't the only bug. Probably should post a few more I guess

Hi greerz, since you can log in in Firefox's safe mode, one of your extensions may be modifying how the page works. It could be a content/tracking blocker, or something security related. Can you spot any potential culprits on the toolbar while you're on the page?

Do you possibly mean: http://origin.com.au/ as suggested by Google?

Problem persists with addons disabled as does the video streaming problem. Works in safe mode but not in normal. Some problem inherent in the core of the program. Problem exists across platforms. Tried jumping through all the usual hoops. Now use Chromium - solves all the problems

Are you sure you don’t want to go to e.g. www.origin.com/au/ instead? (Please respond to the similar questions above, and provide other links with issues if you can.)

Facts: origian.com.au isn’t even up according to isitup.org, and open for registration according to whois.com.

Generally, when you can reach a domain you entered or other domains causing issues in Safe Mode, an add-on is the culprit - just testing this is what Safe Mode is intended for, so that info is a lot of value. Also make sure to check Firefox’s proxy / connection settings - they may be set to use the system proxy settings by default whereas other browsers may not. Then make sure the connection settings are similar to those of other browsers and there is nothing that may have hijacked them.

As a quick test, you can also create a new profile and launch Firefox with that, change the connection settings to No proxy, test those sites and report back.

Rather than trusting other browsers over Firefox and given the issue happens on Linux too, I tend to believe something is hijacked on your system, or there is some caching issue in your router or modem, causing other browsers to redirect non-existing domains (!) to get redirected elsewhere, where that does not happen for Firefox. Try clearing those caches and finding out what may cause DNS results to be wrong.

Add on enabled , disabled, no addons makes no difference in fact. The problem is related to redirection though but it a bug in the software. Hence the related problem with streaming video. Previous versions of firefox were a bit dodgy with redirections within a server but not so much I couldn't live with. Don't see anyway to over ride it in this version. Just the way some websites are constructed and interact with the browser. Up to Mozilla to build their applications to interface reliably with all the weird sites out there. Tough job I know.

So this site is not even up origian.com.au so any errors for this is mote since site is kaput. Yes Firefox looks at code a little stricter. If people check their code with these then there would be no issues. : W3C Who make the rules for web code. HTML https://validator.w3.org/ CSS https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
