So this update happened and while I am sure it is better, I can't stand the layout or the look. There were some other questions similar to this out there already, but I do not really want to go messing around with coding and all that even if it is easy-ish to do. One liners are fine, but anything more then that is above me. So I guess my question is, can I get the last versions look instead of this one, or am I going to be looking for a new browser?

No you can not.

How about looking at these 2 URL's : https://www.howtogeek.com/333110/how-to-customize-firefox-quantum-and-remove-the-white-space-around-the-title-bar/ and The name is not descriptive enough : https://www.howtogeek.com/332449/whats-new-in-firefox-quantum/

More information will come out slowly. New extensions are being made and some older ones being updated that can track here : http://bit.ly/2j0Anlj

Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use, but 52.5.0 ESR is! It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.

You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-

While you basically told me what I need to know, it makes me sad that I can't really move backwards. Thank you for you response, even if it is bad news from where I stand. Trying to customize something you don't like isn't the same as going back to something you did. "Moving forward" isn't always what the consumer wants, and I feel this update is very 'windows" in that it was automatic (I always set updates to let me choose but don't remember getting the option) and is not something I am really enjoying. Yes I know it has only been around for a short time.

While I do not like explore, it is more in line with what i want in a browser, so will probably transition to that while trying to choose something that fits me more.

Unfortunately this has been planned for 5 years and info was available as to what was happening. The why is that the W3C.org (World Wide Web Consortium) in charge of standards and practices and future...of browsers and web pages says and it has to be done. So there is no choice about moving forward as it was done with security in mind and if going to have to rewrite your whole code that was patched from Netscape days you might as well make something new.

Do not forget that people will fill the vacuum and make new Extensions and Themes that are compatible with 57. Also 57 makes full use of the cores of your computer chip and also has a Sandboxed area that important files run in. Ver 58 will be able to use all the threads on your computer chip so things will get even faster.

Each there own. Once I dump the tiles and a few adjustments it works for me. G'luck

Update : t isn't completely possible to use the Australis design with Firefox 57, but depending on what you want, you might be able to customize the UI to look more like the old one:

This project: https://github.com/wilfredwee/photon-australis lets you have the old tab bar appearance back in Firefox 57.
You can remove the space around the address bar by right-clicking on the spaces, and choosing "remove from toolbar".

Here's a more comprehensive project which affects not only tabs but brings back the old "grid-style" options menu.
