At others have written the separate search box to the right of the address box in Firefox disappeared today. I can see it on reboot for a second then goes away. It's in the customize link but don't know how to restore it. I tried typing "about:studies" in the address box but it took me nowhere but to error page that address was "invalid." No one's solutions have worked. Please help me find and restore. Oh yes, I did a system restore and it didn't help. Please, any solutions that will work?? Thanks

Are you sure that, when you typed "about:studies" (without the quotation marks) you didn't 'do a typo'  ?

You could even check Options => Add-ons => Extensions and see if maybe there's an extension listed that you didn't install yourself. But please try "about:studies" again .......

And I just realized that your display name sounded very familiar, and then I remembered :

You solved your problem here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1169479

Why didn't you just post it in your own thread  ? Way more people would see it, as the other thread has been marked as solved ........

Re your remark in the above mentioned thread :

"I gave Firefox a very bad review for doing this "

You may have volunteered for this Mozilla experiment, called 'Shield studies'

See :

Options => Privacy & Security => under 'Data Collection and Use' :

Did you uncheck : 'Allow Firefox to install and run studies '  ?

Hey all, I am new to these types of forums so if I didn't post properly I apologize. Yes, I finally solved the problem by using the about:studies and NO I didn't use quote marks when attempting to type in about:studies. The only thing I did differently was lightly tap the enter key instead of hammering it like I did out of frustration. lol Have NO idea how that box was checked allowing Firefox to try out a study with me. I wouldn't have knowingly volunteered for such a project. Anyway, I have opted out and removed myself from the study. yay
