I tried replacing the profile folder in the new install, but Firefox tells me that my profile folder is missing. I'm trying to get my bookmarks, forms, passwords, etc. into the new install. Can't use migrate because both systems are on the same machine. Any help appreciated.

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

This is your current profile. Copy the folder As Is to a folder on a thumb drive. Then Copy the folder to the new system.

Done and done. Worked perfectly. Many thanks.

You need to copy profiles.ini that registers a profile as well.

Otherwise you need to register this profile using the Profile Manager.

  • use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
  • click "Choose Folder" in the Profile Manager
  • browse to the location of a lost profile to recover this profile and register it in the Profile Manager

Note that you should never use "Choose Folder" to specify a folder that already contains files that do not belong to Firefox (i.e. only use "Choose Folder" to recover an orphaned profile that isn't listed in the Profile Manager).
