I have to keep searching the internet to find a method to get rid of bing search. Unfortunately, bing always seems to find a way back onto my Firefox. WHY? This gets really frustrating. This time no matter what I try that I find on the internet, I cannot get rid of it this time. I know several of the examples on how to get rid of it shows things under Firefox that no longer are the same and because of this it does not work. WHY does this keep happening. I have killed bing under the search engine choices in Firefox but it continues to use bing anyway. Is Firefox no longer secure to where it cannot prevent what some would consider a virus from taking over a part of Firefox?

HELP. I do not want to use anything Microsoft that I do not absolutely 100% NEED to have on my system. I though Firefox would enable me to get rid of every having to use MS anything including their browser/search engine. Isn't that what Mozilla is really about? By the way the only three things I could find under your FAQ that mentions bing is no help at all.

Thanks

The System Details list shows that you have the "SafeSearch Incognito" extension installed that has been reported as a likely culprit.

You can check if you have an extension like these two installed:

  • SafeSearch Incognito
  • SearchAssist Incognito

I do not know if it was a person or automated but anyway you look at it, you guys did great. You solved the problem completely. I have a hard time with the idea of a company supposedly providing searching in silence like Incognito is supposed to do then using such an invasive search engine like Bing. Give me a break. I have uninstalled their program and it will not see the light of day again on my system. Be warned people. GOOD WORK MOZILLA TECH SUPPORT - GOOD WORK. Yea!

You're welcome.

We are real persons and answer questions voluntarily the best we can. We have seen this issue before, but usually people do not attach a list of their extensions. You did, so it was easy to identify this extension as the culprit and speed up the process.
