Firefox keeps starting up on my mac but it is not in the startup items and open at login is not selected
In the past week Firefox (v53.0.2) keeps opening when I start up my iMac. It is NOT selected in my startup items under system preferences. It also does NOT have "open at login" selected in the dock. It opens to my homepage (apple.com.au) so does not seem to be associated with any malware and while it is not really an issue, it IS annoying. The only add-ons are Download Status Bar, IMDB Search, Linkification, PDF Download and SearchIMDB - all of which I have had running for ages. The only plugin is Shockwave Flash 25.0.0171 Incidentally, Safari is doing the same thing and started misbehaving at the same time.

It sounds like something is trying to use the browsers to access the web. Go thru your startup items and know what each one does. Note: There may be more than one place to look for startups.
Start your Computer in safe mode. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?
