Why is Firefox sync only syncing some of my information and not all of it like it used to ?

Hello!

I have used Firefox sync to keep bookmarks, plug-ins, passwords etc. up-to-date between my work computer and personal computer. I've used this for multiple years with very little thought and 0 problems. I would just sign into my account whenever I got a new device or reinstalled Firefox and everything worked fine.

I just returned from a long vacation and when I went to boot up my work computer I noticed none of my bookmarks were synced. I tried everything-disconnecting and reconnecting on both devices, refreshing Firefox on my work computer, reinstalling Firefox on my work computer, deleting and re-creating my count and signing back in on both devices.

Now, some information going through. For example, if I bookmark something and add it to my toolbar it will show up on both devices, but if I organize bookmarks into folders on one computer those movements will not show up in the other computer.

Any ideas on how I can get the sync to work properly like it used to?

You can check the about:sync-log page via the location/address bar to see if there are recent error logs available. You can upload a recent log if the log is too big to put in a reply.


You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

Hi cor-el, thanks for your help! When I looked up the logs, the only thing that came up on the page was the option to go up higher in the directory, so it looks like there are no recent errors.

I also installed the bookmarks/history troubleshooting add-on, but it didn't find any issues.

Would the most strategic next step be to erase the sync account, backup my profile on the main computer where everything is working correctly, uninstall and reinstall Firefox on both computers, backup bookmarks/history to the main computer, create a new syncing account and try connecting them again?
