Seems like a whole other system runs in the background of my computer..... slow running etc. Oft times I see what appears to be 5 or 6 web-pages pop up just as I am rebooting. Typically I get error 'close-down' messages like 'Can't close Notepad.exe' and 'Can't close 'dllhost.exe' and 'Can't close ctfmon.exe', then get these full pages showing up. Last time I read the works 'Unity Services' on a page showing no graphics, and very small font. I looked for that page today, and after several tries, got a 'problem loading' and this message below. (unsure if it has anything to do with the other issues in my system) I am really not interested in that page, but I wonder if.... Thanks

Windows does run a lot of processes. If you close everything you started and look at the Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) on the Processes tab, you may be surprised. Have you done a general malware shakedown in case more is running than should be? Our support article recommend free scanning/cleaning tools to supplement your regular security software: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

Is that the only site which has given you an SSL error? It's a somewhat unusual error code and often is associated with using a proxy or private VPN. Clearing a site's cookies has helped in at least one case.

Task manager; around 60 processes running. The ones listed above show running 3 to 5 times each, as is svchost.exe , msiexec.exe , and cmd.exe. Most all are running on my computer login, rather than 'System', 'Network or Local Service', even as Windows opens. Even a process called 'PresentationHost.exe'.

Naturally, with SO many processes running the CPU runs at 100% and nearly ALL the RAM is used up....hence.....slow computer and/or responses from the web.

I wasn't all that concerned to get ONTO that page, other than to try and figure out why ANY page I'd not been to would be popping up as one of many pages, (also not been too) as my computer tried to reboot. I'm not using a proxy or VPN. Thanks again.

This might be a good time to test Firefox in the Windows "Safe Mode with Networking" mode. This skips a lot of things that usually start up automatically so you can get an idea of whether one of them might be interfering. It also may skip starting your security software, so make sure to browse only "safe" sites during this kind of testing.
