How about a night mode option in the main settings menu that doesn't require endless searching only to find some outdated extension that is not compatible.

There is a schedule for new features for Firefox for Android, and if it is not due to come down the track soon, it is something that is possibly going to be considered in the future.
In the meantime, I recommend having a look at this add-on Dark Background and Light Text that is available for the version of Firefox for Android that you are using.
