If there are problems with importing the Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

Unfortunately Edge does not have an export favourites feature so your suggestion will not work. Why does Firefox go throught the import procedure if it doesn't work? Thanks.

It used to work in Firefox 43 (bug 1192032), but Microsoft changed how the Edge bookmarks are stored and this new code hasn't landed in the current release.

Microsoft Edge bookmarks are now stored in EDB database This is fixed for Firefox 47, but hasn't been uplifted to the release or beta channel (Firefox 45 might get it).
