okay did the dns change and made sure the java version was up to date still can only get into the home page of ssa.gov and cannot get into the sign in area....I would say it is the link to that particular page but I can get into it just fine elsewhere. I did the virus scans etc...still to no avail...I am stumped...

ok I dont think its browser specific. Please do me a favour try browsing to the URL through a proxy and check if that helps. If it does,then we can narrow down the issue to your ISP or home router.

Here is one proxy in case you need it https://kproxy.com/ just type in the URL and then surf.

so is it my router or the isp?

It is also possible that the server is blocking your IP range for some reason, possibly because of spam or other abuse. You would have to contact the website to check if there is such a block.

One other thing that you can try is different DNS servers to see if that works.

You can try alternative DNS servers like Google Public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).
