I configured the email account correctly and can see inbox emails. The problem occurs when sending out emails. It keeps trying without giving any error so I have to kill the app to use the client again. I have a double secured gmail account but I created a unique signin password for this client

Hi Gabriele Vidali,

I used the double-secured feature on my Gmail account and then created a unique password for the Mail app in my Firefox OS device with Flame v2.0.

I was able to send and receive emails from my double-secure Gmail account with no problems. I didn't receive any errors when sending the email, and the automatic sync worked correctly.

Where did you download version 2.1 from?

I would suggest rolling back your Flame device to at least version 2.0. The version that you are currently using is still very unstable, and it's still actively being worked on, so it's not uncommon that features and apps will break.

Version 2.1 is scheduled to be Feature Complete on October 13th, and then there will still be stabilization and optimization work done on it. Mozilla's code on version 2.1 of Firefox OS is scheduled to be Code Complete on November 21, 2014 - so there's still a lot of work to be done on that version. =)

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you are still having issues sending and syncing your emails on more stable versions of Firefox OS.

Thanks,

- Ralph

Hi Gabriele Vidali,

I searched around a bit, and it seems that for the 2-step login process from Google, you are able to create an app-specific password:

Is this what you have already done?

If the problem persists, I would test disabling the double security in Gmail and seeing if the emails are sent successfully after that.

I would also suggest contacting Google's support directly, since they will be able to investigate what exactly is going on with the connection requests to their servers.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if your problem is resolved, or if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

- Ralph

Yes, I already created the app specific password. The problems is with the SMTP only. I know Google servers need authenticated SMTP access and I wonder if b2g email client uses authentication or not when dealing with it. We should check that

Hi Gabriele Vidali,

Thanks for providing more details. I forgot to ask, can you please share your phone model, version, and Build Identification?

I will try to reproduce and investigate this issue on my end.

Thanks,

I have the same issue on 1.3 Flame.

I'm talking about the flame. I'm now using fxos 2.1 and emails get sent randomly, it can be once I relaunch the app. Also automatic sync does not work with 2.1 (it worked with 1.3)
