When I send a new message a copy is sent from all my email accounts instead of just the main one.

I have two Gmail email accounts supported by Thunderbird. When I compose and send a new message a copy of the message is sent to the recipients from both my email accounts rather the just the email account that is the first in the list of my accounts (via Edit/Account settings). What happens is each recipient gets two copies of the email, one from each of my email addresses. I have not been able to find a setting that will fix this problem. The problem started after I had to re-enter my account information after some sort of problem with Gmail.

You need a separate SMTP outgoing set-up for each of ACCT1 and ACCT2. Your description indicates that ACCT1 is using ACCT2's SMTP.

In Account Settings, go down to the very end of the list of accounts. You'll find all your outgoing (SMTP) settings there. If you don't already have one for ACCT1, create a new one, copying the settings used for ACCT2, changing, of course, the username and password as appropriate. Make sure each of these SMTP settings has a distinctive name or description so that you can tell the two of them apart. The corresponding email address is generally useful here.

Then go to the incoming account settings for ACCT1 and ACCT2 and check each one nominates the appropriate smtp server under Account Settings|Outgoing Server.

(Having said all that, I'm not sure how this works with OAuth2. I suspect that the first time you use a new SMTP server setting, a Google prompt will appear, requesting your account password. If you're set to use two-factor authentication, a 6-digit code will be sent to your phone for you to enter.)

Revised/Better description of the problem.... It appears that two copies of the message are NOT being sent to the addressees.

I have two email accounts serviced by Thunderbird. Lets call one ACCT1 and the ACCT2. ACCT1 is first in the list of my accounts and ACCT2 is second. If I send a email to somebody from ACCT1, two copies of the email are appearing in my Sent folder, one with the From email address set to ACCT1 and one with the FROM address set to ACCT2. I had assumed that two messages were being sent to each addressee.

The other issue is that when i send a message from ACCT1 to anybody (I have verified this) the From address is set to ACCT2. I have gone though the settings and documentation and have not been able to find any settings or anything that might be able to fix this.

Zenos! Thanks for the solution. There were a bunch of outgoing servers listed with various account names. The outgoing server list had multiple copies for the two accounts and some entries that were incomplete and one entry from an old email address I deleted all of them and added two new outgoing servers using OAuth2. All seems to working now. Thanks Again!
