Recent update prevents the main Thunderbird window from being resized to a width that fits the screen. The minimum width seems to be restricted to an abnormally large value, which means that it is impossible to make it fit a normal screen. The width can be increased without a problem.

After further investigation, I've found the cause of the problem myself.

It was the FoxClocks addon v 4.0.2. v Previous v 3.4.14.1 works fine and allows the Thunderbird main window to be resized normally; v4.0.2 doesn't.

my laptop screen is 1366 x 768 (16:9) I also have an external monitor which is 1280 x 1024 (5:4) which exacerbates the problem

I'm running on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit with kernel 3.2.0-90-generic by the way.

The resizing of Thunderbird worked fine for many years until a couple of days ago.
