I am continuously recieving the same error message (this connection is untrusted)
When I try to access my emails (Gmail) I recieve this error message; what should I do? My laptop PC is a Windows Vista and Firefox is 33.0. My laptop currently runs Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 as protection.

You have asked Firefox to connect securely to mail.google.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified. What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
mail.google.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
- Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
- Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate"
- Click the "View" button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer.
You can see more details like the intermediate certificates that are used in the Details tab.
If the certificate is issued by your Kaspersky security software then you have two options:
- disable scanning secure connections in Kaspersky
- install the Kaspersky root certificate and when prompted set the trust bit to use the certificate to "Trust this CA to identify websites"

Thanks for the reply, but I am not recieving "I Understand the Risks." I do know where it would be located, as I have done it before. I have attached a screenshot of my issue.
What about on https://www.google.com/ ? Can you load that? If so, take a look at the "Issued by" section by clicking the padlock in the address bar, then "More Information" then "View Certificate".

Thank you for the quick reply. I can access Google from Firefox. I also can view the certificate, and Firefox says that it is secure. But I am still having the same issue. Do you know of anything else I can try?
Hi, yes, but the question is: who is listed under "Issued by" on the certificate? You might see Kaspersky there, then you could set up Firefox to work with Kaspersky's SSL Scan feature. That's what cor-el was talking about in this reply: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1031922#answer-655275

Yes, the "Issued by" is Kaspersky. To be exact, it says Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Root Certificate.
Aha. I'm going to refer you to the Kaspersky support article cor-el mentioned. It has the steps for setting up the Opera browser by importing a certificate file generated by Kaspersky, and it's mostly similar for Firefox:

In Firefox, you would import the .cer file using the Advanced Panel of the Options dialog, here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Certificates mini-tab > "View Certificates" button
When the Certificate Manager dialog opens, click the Authorities tab (as you would in Opera).
Can you get the certificate imported and get to Gmail?
