How do I stop view.atdmt.com from trying to load and stalling Firefox?

Despite re-starting Firefox it is still slow to load and keeps stalling (not responding) when I try to connect to pages (such as the weather forecast) that have automatic advert sections. This often happens when the page is loading "view.atdmt" or "bid.g.doubleclick.com" so I suspect there might be a connection. I think it was possible to block specific pages in IE, so wonder if I can do the same with Firefox.

You may have add/mal-ware on you computer.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Hi Fred

I regularly scan using Malwarebytes (though the free version seems somewhat more truncated than it used to be). Following yr suggestion a repeated the Malwarebytes scan and also ran a full scan on Microsoft Security Essentials though I'm not sure that this is up to date any longer - as I use XP on a pretty old computer. Anyway - nil results from both scans.

Any more suggestions??

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Most of those type programs call home for any updates. If you want to be sure, go to the home site of that program.

I couldn't find any malware issues, so finally I re-set. I'm keeping Task Manager open for now so I can monitor what else is going on.

Sorry for the delay, life got in the way!

Thanks
