How to stop random characters being generated in the search box of a website, using Firefox to login?

I have a hudl 2 and until about a month I was able to use Firefox to login to my stockbroker and check real-time prices. Now, however, the first character in the search box is fine but typing the second character automatically repeats and makes the search impossible! I do not have this problem with Chrome.
