After I resume Windows from sleep, the Whatsapp web app becomes very slow to type in, and the whole browser becomes sluggish as a whole while typing (like this one).

I noticed extra processes being created after each resume. I think it maxes to 2 processes, but I'm not sure at this point as it needs further testing. See the attached image.

I want wrote extension, that will open sidebar (with bookmarks) on New Tab, and close it on other tabs.

I make background script with next content: ``` browser.tabs.onActivated.addListener(function(tab){ if(tab.url=="about:newtab") browser.sidebarAction.open() else browser.sidebarAction.close() }) ``` And I get next error in console: `browser.sidebarAction is undefined`

Also I can see here that such actions "can only be called from inside the handler for a user action." Clicking the extension's browser action or page action.

And I want ensure whether tabs.onActivated event is a User action?

And if not, is there any ways or suggestions to go around this limitation?

Good Morning

Today I had to repair Firefox and after restarting, I felt a strange scrolling sensation, it was not the normal Firefox scrolling, I even thought I had openend the wrong browser...so I went check about:config , and found some values where changed as new default values:

general.smoothScroll.mouseWheel.durationMaxMS 200 general.smoothScroll.mouseWheel.durationMinMS 50

I tought it was me the problem so I installed an older version of Firefox (80.0) in order to compare, and found a normal scrolling and those values:

general.smoothScroll.mouseWheel.durationMaxMS 400 general.smoothScroll.mouseWheel.durationMinMS 200

I think this is a mistake from devs, if i wanted to have horrible scrolling, I could just use Edge instead of Firefox, could you please bring the original scrolling back to Firefox?

Thanks

Running v 60 ESR, downgraded from v 68, with zero problems for 3 weeks.

I've had this problem all of a sudden since last week. Steps I've taken so far:

  • Changed "security.tls.version.min" to 3 from 1 (didn't work)
  • Deleted cert8.db (didn't work)
  • Changed to Google DNS (not sure)
  • Changed to "auto-detect proxy" from "system proxy" (not sure, maybe)
  • Disabled IPV6 (not sure, maybe)
  • Turned off/on wifi hotspot, rebooted laptop (not sure, maybe)

The last 3 steps I took at the same time and they worked. On reboot the problem went away, albeit for 2 days!

It just came back, now it's performing a TLS handshake on about half the sites, with loading after 30-60 seconds or not at all. From searching, I see that solutions are all over the place on this and it's specific to FF. A post clearly identifies a Symantec certificates issue.

This is probably the toughest issue I've come across on FF.

I am using Firefox 83.0 64-bit on a Windows laptop.

I was hoping to prototype some website code locally (using the Windows directories) prior to testing with a proper website.

I have been unable to get sessionStorage (or localStorage) to pass variables to another page unless they're in the same Windows directory. For instance, if I create 2 very simple and cut-down test files: Test1.html and Test2.html, that contain the following JavaScript:

Test1.html window.sessionStorage.setItem ("html", element.innerHTML); alert ("posting " + window.sessionStorage.getItem ("html")); window.open ("Test2.html", "_self");

Test2.html var html=window.sessionStorage.getItem ("html"); alert ("received " + html);

then it works if the two files are in the same directory. But if Test2 is in a subdirectory, and I change the open call to:

window.open (".\\subdir\\Test2.html", "_self");

then it receives null instead of the HTML that Test1 is sending. I am guessing that there is some code that is treating the change of directory as a cross-origin issue, even though they're under the same root directory.

I appreciate that the specification may be a bit vague in this non-Web situation, but Chrome does what I would expect. I thought someone might want to take a look to check if this was an oversight or deliberate.

I had to update firefox to current version to pay a bill on a web site. I did it. I was recommended to sync another device during install, I did that too. I worked for a few hours on firefox just now, then it crashed. It reported data it had but now I have nothing. No history, no bookmarks, NOTHING. I logged in, my username and password worked find but it's like a fresh install, no data. Over 10 years of history, hundreds and hundreds of pages and passwords all gone. I synched to my phone as it insisted I install another device. Supposedly that was done but I have no idea how to use that or what it can do. They claimed it was a backup.

I'm at a total loss.

I know this has been asked plenty of times but Firefox is running multiple processes to the point I don't want to use it anymore. I've done google searches on how to stop this problem and tried everything suggested but nothing works. Any ideas before I say adios to this slow crappy browser? I'm still using windows 7 but not for much longer.
