I restarted my computer two days ago, which I usually don't. When it restarted, Mozilla was like brand new as if I hadn't used it before. None of my personalization is here. I did that "Start" and then did the %APPDATA%, etc. but nothing showed up. I miss all my things. If anyone can help, I'd be grateful. Thank you.

Hello people, sometimes I would get the message "Shockwave Flash may be busy or it may have stopped responding". There is no way I can fix this. I have tried Google and they don't show tutorials on how to permanently fix this. What year is this? 2002? Not it's not. It's almost 2015. Can you please fix this for Firefox 34 or newer?

So, I'm not 100% sure if this question has already been asked or even answered, but I have a REALLY huge beef with the newer versions of Firefox. See, some versions ago, I could right-click the gray, not-yet-used area to the right of my non-folder bookmarks (on the toolbar, I should add) and then quickly sort all of those li'l buggers by selecting "sort by name", but now that function's been removed without ANY explanation as to why!

I really liked that function, 'cause it made adding new bookmarks AND keeping them sorted really easy. I know I can click the bookmarks menu up-top, then click "show all bookmarks", and then continue fiddling around with stuff for a while to get the exact same result, but that REALLY is too much of a hassle for getting my bookmarks sorted, ESPECIALLY since Firefox USED to have a fully functional and perfectly bug-free feature which let me sort all my non-folder bookmarks in less than two seconds.

So my question here is: why on EARTH did you remove that function?! It was great, and it was (in my something several years of experience with it) completely bug-free, and it didn't affect my experience with Firefox in a negative fashion WHATSOEVER! Can you just PLEASE re-add that function so I can quickly and easily sort my bookmarks WITHOUT the constant hassle of fiddling and muddling with menus and whatsits and whatnots?!

So I just updated to Firefox 33 and the first thing I notice is the newtab page is changed. I get a 4 x 2 grid instead of the regular 3 x 3 grid. I tried changing things through about:config and it says I should have a 5 x 3 grid. I can only decrease the number of columns and rows to see any change on the tab. If I shrink the tab using ctrl - it'll show things correctly but that doesn't save. What can I do to get newtab back to the way it was before updating or show things correctly?

Site Preferences and Form & Search History don't delete upon closing the browser session, ignoring Privacy Settings

I take privacy and local storage of any private data very seriously and I've always set Firefox to delete all data other than "Saved Passwords" upon closing a browser session.

The last several Firefox versions, however, haven't been deleting "Site Preferences" and "Form & Search History" whereas the other fields seem to be properly deleted. Running CCleaner shows that the content-prefs.sqlite and permissions.sqlite (corresponding to "Site Preferences" and "Saved Form Information", respectively) have been propagating across multiple browser sessions. One might be tempted to think that perhaps CCleaner selects and deletes these files on a pro-forma basis regardless of their state. However, there is conclusive evidence that information is being saved across sessions when that particular information has specifically been selected to be deleted upon the closing of every session.

The particular information which I know is being saved is Bookmark preferences. In a fresh browser session after you've confirmed that all privacy data has definitely been deleted, typing the name of a site stored in your bookmarks in the address bar (when you have set the address bar to autofill from your bookmarks) will be history agnostic. What I mean by this is that if you have three bookmarks starting with the letter G - for example: gamespot, github, and google -, typing the letter G in the address bar will populate the autocomplete pulldown list with the three sites in alphabetical order. However, if you have repeatedly selected github and not the other two across several firefox sessions, this behavior changes. Now, as either Site Preferences or Saved Form Information is being saved across sessions, the pulldown list WILL NOT be history agnostic. Suddenly, github will appear as the first entry in the pulldown list upon typing the letter G, not the middle entry as alphabetical order dictates. Furthermore, running CCleaner after you experience this behavior corrects it; the pulldown list will once again be history agnostic and only ordered alphabetically.

This is the one bit of unwanted privacy behavior that I can confirm. I would greatly appreciate future Firefox versions correcting this and making certain that the chosen fields to be deleted between sessions are, in fact, actually deleted. I would also appreciate someone pointing me towards a trustworthy extension or userscript as a temporary relief. Thank you

Edit: CCleaner is deleting THREE files, not two as previously identified. It's after the deletion of these three files from the profile and none others that the unwanted behavior of remembering (at least) bookmark preferences is reset. The three files are: -content-prefs.sqlite -permissions.sqlite -formhistory.sqlite

Edit #2: It seems that two more files are modified but not deleted per the CCleaner operation: -signons.sqlite -places.sqlite It's likely that places.sqlite is the file storing the bookmark "Frecency" data. I manually deleted the three files previously mentioned between firefox sessions without using CCleaner. The bookmark frecency behavior still persisted between sessions, allowing me to rule out content-prefs, permissions and formhistory as the root causes of bookmark frecency.

Though I can see how bookmark frecency can be treated as a better-usability feature, I believe that it's privacy related and should also be under user control. Something for future Firefox versions...

The nighly only works if firewall is disabled, but just works for some time and the wont connect. When is not connecting it comes with an other problem. Even when ending the nighly processes there will remain a nighly processes that cant be ended, saying access denied (only way to close nighly and using normal firefox is to restar the computer. Or restarting and disabling the firewall and then running the Nighly)

I have windows 8 x64 with Nighlty x64. I use windows firewall with all firefox and nighly allowed. It use to work fine until an update. And cant find a way to fix it.

hi all

Ok. To my knowledge (and I've checked the mozilla keyboard shortcut listings), CTRL + SHIFT + V performs 'paste as plain text' (some people call this paste special). A really excellent option, if, for example, you're copying from MS word etc and don't want any extraneous crap coming with the text :)

This has definitely worked for me in previous versions of firefox.

However, using FF 33.1, CTRL + SHIFT + V does not currently work (it does nothing). Nothing is pasted.

CTRL + V works fine.

Interestingly, SHIFT + right mouse click paste works too (I suppose it's possible that the SHIFT keystroke is ignored though).

I've checked but there doesn't seem to be a paste special option in the edit menu, just as an alternative.

I am aware of a documented conflict (could just be historical) between the adblock plus sidebar keyboard shortcut and this 'paste as plain text' option in FF.

I've checked in about:config and the relevant preference "extensions.adblockplus.sidebar_key" is set to "Accel Shift U", so no apparent conflict there.

I have of course checked this operation in safe mode and have replicated the problem.

Setup:

firefox 33.1 windows 7 64bit home premium (with all patches, etc)

It would be reassuring if someone could at least replicate this issue (or tell me what I'm doing wrong :) ).

Regards,

Gary
