Print Preview when printing Gmail attachments?

When clicking the print button in the interface of Gmail, it opens the attachment in a new tab and shows the system print dialog. When closing that dialog, the tab is closed too.

As a consequence, it doesn't seem to be possible to print attachments from Gmail AND view the print preview. I had some cases, where a previous "scale" setting led to attached scans being printed at half the size of the paper instead of full size, with no noticeable prior warning; By comparison in Chrome the print preview would have shown the issue in time.

Is it somehow possible in Firefox to obtain similar behavior?
