Why, when I haven't signed into Firefox on a brand new mac, not Time-machined or restored from backup in any way, have all my bookmarks been sync'd across both?

I have an older Mac for work, my home mac, and now a new mac for work. I had all of my bookmarks syncing across my old work and home macs, as i was signed into Firefox account. However, with a brand new mac, I took a html backup of the bookmarks from Safari(copied originally from Firefox), to move across to my new mac. Only the few files and dmgs needed for my work have been transferred. Firefox is NOT signed into on my new mac, but...I got home to find that my removing all of my 'personal' bookmark folders from my bookmarks toolbar, has now been sync'd through to my home mac????? Can anyone tell me why on earth a non-sync'd Firefox browser on a fresh machine is syncing with my home mac, signed into a Firefox account? What's even more confusing however, is the fact that it's syncing the signed in bookmarks from my home mac, to my old work macs' 'Work' Firefox Profile (this may be answered because this browser is signed in, despite being different profiles, which i know is a file on specific machines so might be device centric), and now to the non-signed in Firefox browser on my new work mac.
