My bookmarks are in the list, but URLs which are not bookmarked are also in the list. (I say some of the entries are not bookmarks because there is no blue star if I double click on them.)

This morning after no noticeable change to my computer, the bookmarks are missing from Firefox. I thought it might be after last update, but that was a week ago (I think) and I didn't have this issue until after the weekend (computer on but not used, system did not restart). The bookmark backups are listed but i get the following error when trying to load them:

"Unable to process the backup file."

I have found the file location, but even trying to do it manually gives the same error.

Is this a bug from the new update?

When I use Microsoft Edge Browser in the top row it shows my Bookmarks and to the left it also shows an icon that allows you to jump back to the Edge Browser.

In Mozilla Firefox there is no icon to take you back to the Firefox browser. Occasionally a site will Hi-Jack you and trying to use the back arrow to get back to the Browser does not work. The only solution is to shut down the Firefox browser and then restart it again.

I would rather use Firefox as it support HTML 5 audio which is not supported in Microsoft Edge.

Can you please advise.

I am writing to report an issue that I encountered while attempting to recover my bookmarks in Firefox. After reinstalling Windows, I installed Firefox on my new system and attempted to retrieve my saved pages. While browsing through the settings, I discovered a backup recovery button in the bookmarks section and assumed it would restore my previous session in Firefox. Unfortunately, this action deleted all my saved bookmarks and set them to the default settings.

I am extremely disappointed and upset about losing all of my bookmarks, and I am hoping that you can assist me in recovering them. Additionally, I have been unable to locate any method of restoring my saved pages, and I would appreciate your advice on this matter as well.

Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to retrieve my lost bookmarks and recover my saved pages. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Firefox just updated. Now my Bookmarks Toolbar Menu is decimated and replaced by "Most Visited". How do I get back all the bookmarks I have saved over many years. I want them even though I don't visit them often.

Hi... I did a Firefox refresh today. Prior to the refresh, my bookmarks were displayed of the left side of the browser page... now they are not. I can still see and access my bookmarks if I go into manage bookmarks. But, I can not figure out how to get them displayed as before. Would appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thank in advance.

Hello, I upgraded my windows 8.1 system with firefox on it to windows 10. The windows 10 upgrade saved my windows 8.1 files. I installed firefox on windows 10. I deleted the files created by the install in the folder 'profiles'. When I copy my old firefox profile contents into that firefox profile folder, firefox does not pickup my bookmarks and extensions as I had hoped. Is it possible to get firefox to recognize my old profile contents? Thanks, Doug

So, like a proper idiot I forgot to export my bookmarks!!!

I no longer have access to the computer, but I did remove the hard drive.

I was wondering if there is a way for me to copy any files, or folders from the original hard drive which I have connected via a usb dock, into the new computer?

When I'm on a webpage and drag the URL onto the Bookmark Toolbar it's showing up as an URL instead of the page name like it used to.

For example: If I was on this page: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35895322/sources-cowboys-trade-texans-wr-brandin-cooks

Before the last update if I dragged that URL to the Bookmark Toolbar it would say: "Cowboys trade for Texans WR Brandin Cooks"

After the update it just shows the URL.

This makes it VERY hard to remember what each bookmark is.

Can anyone help me to bring this back to using the page name instead of the URL on this Toolbar?

We use a cloud-based ERP system. To access it, we use a bookmark for users to get to the initial login screen in Firefox. There has been a change in the login screen that will require us to use a different URL. We have about 75 PCs with many having multiple user profiles for Firefox that need the new URL.

I know how to quickly copy and paste the bookmark by remoting into a PC and then doing a copy/paste from the bookmarks toolbar on my PC to the bookmark toolbar on the remote PC.

I could also create a procedure for users to create their own bookmark but I think some users would find that a challenge.

I'd like to make this process more of a silent install but haven't figured out how to manage it.

We're currently all Windows 10 Pro using Firefox v101.0.1 64-bit.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Recently I have noticed that my bookmarks which are in folders display only the icon not the text. The main toolbar shows both icons and text. This only applies on my desktop browser. iPad is fine.

What should I do to correct this?

I added an Add-On to try it called [by Firefox by Mozilla Firefox] Notes by Firefox by Mozilla Firefox which I have since removed as the Add-On has corrupted my Bookmarks. When I click 'Show Sidebars' my Bookmarks don't show (thought they are there) but it's as though the font is white making it impossible to see them.

If I click Bookmarks I can see them and/or when I click on Manage Bookmarks that option opens and I can see all my Bookmarks. This only happened after I added "Notes by Firefox by Mozilla Firefox" Add-On. I was thinking there could be possibility it could have been caused by changing the appearance to Dark Mode, (for example Facebook or Twitter, etc).

There must be a better fix then to refresh / restore Firefox to its default settings as I have about 90 Tabs Open

Good morning, Recently I discovered there are two maps called "Andere bladwijzers" in my Firefox browser. I deleted a submap in the second map and noticed this submap had also disappeared in the first map. Is there something I must do or can I leave these two large maps as it is? I recently turned on an old computer that I hadn't used in a while which had Firefox on it and was still logged in to my Mozilla account (but it was locked out of the account and needed me to manually log in again to access all the features). Before I did so I wanted to clear the old bookmarks on my old computer's Firefox so these wouldn't get added to my Mozilla account when I synchronized it, so I deleted them thinking only the bookmarks on my old computer's old Firefox would be deleted. But when I went on my laptop's Firefox to synchronize and make sure my Mozilla account was up to date all of my bookmarks were gone on this device as well, and now I can't seem to get them back - is there any way to retrieve these just deleted bookmarks? They took years to add, from many websites that I don't know the names of, and upon which I completely relied on the bookmarks to use.

Drag-drop bookmarking broken, Firefox 102.0 (64 bit)

I do not know which update began exhibiting this apparent reversion bug, as i have just returned home from several weeks in the hospital due to a heart attack, and do not know how many updates i missed.

When doing a drag-drop of a URL from either a link on a page OR the address line at the top of the browser, I will receive a "sanity failure" error, ranging from an empty NON-URL file, to an OS error complaining about being unable to access an attempted directory destination.

If the link I am dragging is bereft of illegal characters (i.e., ":" -- a colon), the action will succeed.

If there IS a colon, the text to the LEFT of the colon will become the filename. The colon and everything to its right will be truncated. And, the file will be a zero-byte file of unknown (to me) type.

Other illegal characters in the page's Title field will produce more dramatic misbehavior.

PLEASE revert to the previous behavior (i.e., filtering the Title before creating the filename for the bookmark file)!

Earlier versions of Firefox (again, I do not know when this began) NEVER exhibited this behavior.

I am not too good with the computer and have just starting using Firefox. I will do my best to describe my question so please bar with me. I have 2 rows of websites that I frequent...actually only using the first row and 5 spaces in the second row. When I go to a different website Firefox is automatically adding that website to one of the boxes in the second row which I do not want. How do I stop this? Question 2...using Ebay as an example...if I keep searching on Ebay and have looked at lets say 5 different pages how do I go back to the home screen without having to hit the back button 6 times? I mainly bookmark pages by clicking and dragging the URL to my bookmarks sidebar as I've always found this to be more convenient. After the last two Firefox updates, this method no longer saves the page title, just the page URL.

In the attached image, the URL and resulting bookmark from dragging it to the sidebar are circled in red. The expected title is circled in orange. An example of an older (correctly titled) bookmark is circled in green. This is not a page specific issue, as it happens on every webpage.

CTRL+D as well as pressing the star icon in the navigation bar still work as expected, bookmarking pages with their correct titles.
