Starting 3 days ago: Cannot SEND email - receiving works fine. Error message: An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Please ensure your email address and authenticating user match when sending messages. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

The other odd thing is that I get asked for a password before sending which never happened before.

I followed advice given someone in 2022 - I've messed with the account settings (unfortunately) and I've changed the SMTP settings to match what Comcast recommends.

I have 3 comcast accounts; two work fine on my iPad and iPhone - one doesn't

Also I have no problem sending emails using Xfinity/Comcast Mail... but I want to use Thunderbird.

Where do I start looking?

I'm sure I've made the problem worse by trying to change the setup

Its driving me crazy. When I select a group of Inbox emails, and delete them, it is taking forever. The window will display a "not responding" message, eventually clear that and then the emails are deleted. But it takes way too long. Windows 11, most recent update. Thunderbird, it just updated. I was on a Win 10 computer, same Thunderbird version and deleting took merely a blink to happen.

Win 10 has both VPN AND AV. Win 11 has neither. Help! Thank you,

Using Mac OS 10.13.6, Firefox recently updated to 115.0.3, and now the Overdrive app (from the public library) won't download audiobook files anymore. Have tried clearing cache, restarting, removing book files, restarting, and reloading the OD app, etc. The error message is that the app can't connect to the internet. My internet connection is fine - this is only happening with this app. It only started doing this when Firefox updated. I tried loading an earlier version of Firefox but it automatically went to this Beta update channel version. Can you help me go back to an earlier version of Firefox that won't automatically update? (I'm not able to upgrade this Mac, and this OS is the one that Overdrive works with. Firefox was the only browser that worked with Overdrive. Thanks - hope you can help!

In seeking a way to reduce the CPU & RAM usage, I read that perhaps turning on the Hardware Acceleration might help. And to do that, you must first de-select the default setting which says FF will use the best settings for my computer. Well, when I opened that section, neither one was checked! So, should I first try the default setting, and if that doesn't help, then try HA? I'd always heard not to use HA, for some reason, but I'm ready for trying anything that might help use less resources, and open webpages more consistently.

Which is the best setting to use, or neither one?

Hi, the site "https://pixabay.com/" is suddently extremely slow with mozilla. The pictures don't showup or take many minutes before you can see them. Normally only white boxes show. The same site (pixabay) with the browser "Opera" works perfectly. I always use mozilla and since a short while it just doesn't work with pixabay (a site for royalty-free images). hello tried a few things from help docs on line. nothing working. just keeps happening. tabs will say gah. your tab just crashed. works for a bit but once happens.... have to close whole firefox and open again. just started happening yesterday. I have used firefox for many many years never a problem. Something was not updated right. Please tell me how to fix this once and for all. if not I have to leave using firefox this is driving me crazy. terrible. In Android 14 oneUI 6.0 i have an issue while i download, the progress of download doesn't show up, i have checked everything but only the Firefox notification of private search shows up, plus when it is downloading the file i have problems when browsing, like when i use the keyboard The keyboard automatically closes and doesn't allows me to type I don't know if i explain myself clear enough

Pretty much every video I attempt to play, including https://www.allaboutbirds.org/cams/red-tailed-hawks/# will play the video only when audio is muted. unmute the audio and you get the audio track but the video is paused.

Can't figure this one out, I've seen it only in the last few days (it started when I was using 127.0.0 and continues in 127.0.1)

Chrome and Chromium don't do this.

I set up a new Windows 11 PC (64-bit) about 2 months ago, and installed Thunderbird Supernova. I allowed MTS to choose all the settings and everything was working fine until about 3 weeks ago I am now running version 115.11.1 (64-bit). I noticed that many messages I recieve at scheduled times every day were not appearing in my MTS message list until sevveral hours (a few actually took 3 days) after their normal delivery times. Checking with the senders revealed no change to the time they were sent. Looking at the messages when they appeared showed that they WERE received on time. Logging into the web interfaces for Gmail and Comcast/XFINITY email revealed that the messages were arriving on time. The only logical conclusion is that MTS has a problem in its IMAP protocol implementation that does not recognize new/unread messages as such, and therefore does not retrieve them. I am legally blind, and up to this point, mTS is the only fully accessible, easy-to-keyboard-navigate email program.

Why is Firefox refusing to display Instagram videos?

For a fraction of a second, the video shows what appears to be the initial display frame, then goes black. Audio plays. Displays OK on Chrome and Edge.

Is there a setting that tells Firefox to report why it makes its choices?

Suppose that I have a 5 kbyte comment with multiple paragraphs, and I skip around copy and pasting from one place to another, and highlight some sentences and over write them either with typing or pasting. When I go to undo or redo some of these things, it causes a big screw-up in the text.

Other than it being my problem to recompose the damaged sentences, etc, what developers need to be contacted to fix the undo and redo functions of the YouTube comment input text controls for YouTube videos?

Hello! Since I couldn't find help in the forums, I will create a new question. For about a year now the PC at my work will not open mailto-links correctly. There is no account to select from, the subject has a lock-symbol. The receiver's address is correct though (I replaced it with "address" for the screenshot). This PC is the only one I know with that problem and only with external mailto-links. If I click on an email address inside a mail, it opens it correctly. Thunderbird version 115.11.1 (32-Bit), Win 10

There are other threads about this, but the solutions given haven't worked for me. I'm using Mullvad VPN, and whenever it's on, I cannot search for anything regardless of my search engine, and pretty much the only website that will open is Tumblr. For anything else, the URL will be in the bar at the top, but it won't do anything beyond that; it won't even show the loading symbol. It worked very briefly when I first got the VPN, but now it doesn't. Other browsers work with my VPN. What am I supposed to do?

Have used Thunderbird for 10+ years, as interface to Gmail. Lovely product. 3 days ago I had to reinstall a station but when Thunderbird does its updating after reconnecting to gmail address for the 10GB of emails, it behaves damn irregular: - periodic freezes of mouse and keyboard, for about 0.3 seconds every 3 to 5 seconds. - Thunderbird message says downloading email number out of total number of emails (very slowly advancing) but every 3 seconds it starts downloading email 1 of those emails - station has cumulated some 20 hours working, most of these left to finish syncronizing. Usually in 2 - 3 hours there is time enough.

This happens only when Thunderbird runs, when I close it the station runs fine. Same hardware on the station as before..
