When I click on a function on a webpage instead of performing that function on that page it opens a new webpage, everytime. Does my problem make sense?

When I visit a webpage and start a flash player game, each time I click on a function for that page a whole other page opens up instead of operating the original function within the original webpage. I can end up with dozens of independent Firefox webpages stacked up in my que in the start tab at the bottom of the screen throughout the process of playing the game or browsing a website. This never happened before. What's happening and how can I correct the problem?
