Same problem. After updating to 3.6.6 firefox will not start. Tried uninstalling (full uninstall) and re-installed with no success. Will try to go back to 3.5. No other information so far seems to apply.

I gave up on Firefox this past Winter because of crashes. I just downloaded 3.6.6 to give 'er another go - crashed in forty five seconds! Nothing else does this - Chrome, Enigma, Opera, Safari - even IE. So, back to Safari.

Not sure when I updated to Firefox 3.6.6 but it started crashing as soon as I tried to use it this morning, July 7th - on exactly the same pages as I've been accessing for the last week or two. It worked fine yesterday and all the days before. I have Mac 10.5.8. Am using Safari in the meantime.

I was able to get firefox working again by running in safemode, deleting all data and rebooting. I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8. To run Firefox in safemode, I held down the Option key while clicking on the firefox icon.

Hard to say what the fix was, because I re-installed several times, ran in safemode and used all options to remove all configurations, restarted Firefox and only the reboot seemed to do the trick. So it could have been any one of those options plus a reboot or just the reboot.

Well, I thought everything was OK and its not. Having disabled Shockwave and Foundation, I was good with pdfs off the net for a while. Now no go again. What else to do? When I tried with IE, they wouldn't download either. Perhaps a Vista issue?

If they do not patch this soon, they will lose a lot of loyal long term FF users, including myself. For me it just freezes and if I wait for it to recover, it never does. I have to force quit it with task manager.

I now have the same issue as MB- FF will hang, use lots of space and have to close with task manager. Please patch this! I too have been a loyal FF user and do not want to switch.

Have Max OS X 10.6.4 and after updating Firefox it crashes all the time. I took all of my plugins in the library - put them on my desktop and then put them back. It works a little better until I try to use video. I updated Adobe and it still crashes. UGH!

same problem,

3.6.6 has been crashing daily several times since I updated it.

I've been a happy user right from the start ! but now considering something alternative... at least until this is fixed but I might get glued to the alternative !

please fix this asap with an update !

Having the same problem. Firefox 3.6.6 on Vista-64 bit crashes constantly. I can be surfing the web or --the worst--on Facebook. Always crashing. I, too, have used Firefox for years without problems but this is really frustrating and needs to be fixed asap!

Same here. First time Firefox has let me down. Freezes up and on certain pages. Happens about a dozen times per day. Becoming very frustrating. Is there any response from Mozilla on this?

If anyone hears of a fix, please let us know. I have never had trouble with Firefox until now. I miss it!

I posted last week to say that Firefox was crashing ever since the latest update was installed. My solution ultimately was to delete the application and download a fresh copy - still 3.6.6. So far it hasn't crashed at all. (This is not to get Mozilla off the hook. Their silence in face of what is an obvious problem is a real worry.)

On two different computers (but both Dell), with ubuntu hardy (8.04), FF 3.6.6 crashs as soon as it comes on a web page with java applets (like http://jmol.sourceforge.net). At the restart, it says "Hummmmm etc" I re-installed it, the jre6 and the flash 10 plugin, but with no effects. On an other computer (old HP), same config, it works. With the former version (6.6.4), it worked nice.
