Firefox won't respond at all. I have completely removed the program and down-loaded and installed the latest version. Still no response.

Firefox suddenly quit responding one day last week. After re-installing the program (which didn't work) I went to the website and downloaded and installed the latest version. Program does not open (respond) at all. This is on Desktop with XP. Firefox works fine on my laptop which has Windows 7. I am now using Chrome as my browser on the desktop. No problems. I am at a loss as to what happened.
