FF Ignores Auto Opening of Foxit Reader with .pdf Files

Windows 10. Firefox 49.0.1

Every time I open a .pdf document FF asks what should it do with this file. I select the radio button "Open with Foxit Reader 8.0" AND I've checked the box to do this automatically for files like this from now on. However FF ignores this checked box and the pop-up asks what it should do every time I open a .pdf file. Thoughts?
